Sonia Satellite Services is the Malaysian representative of ZhongKang BeiDou, the channel through which BeiDou-based navigation, positioning and IoT capabilities are delivered to Malaysian and regional customers.
The BeiDou system itself is operated by the China Satellite Navigation Office. Its capabilities, from the PPP-B2b high-precision service to two-way RDSS short messaging, are documented in our knowledge base with primary sources.

NORINCO (China North Industries Group Corporation) is a Chinese state-owned conglomerate under SASAC and one of the world's largest defence contractors, with civilian businesses spanning petroleum, industrial products and geospatial services, including BeiDou ground-station infrastructure. Sonia Satellite works with NORINCO on aerospace digital park development.
REGULATORY DISCLOSURE · UNITED STATES
NORINCO is designated on the US Treasury's Non-SDN Chinese Military-Industrial Complex (NS-CMIC) list under Executive Order 14032, effective 2 August 2021, and on the US Department of Defense's Section 1260H list of Chinese military companies, added 7 January 2025. These regimes restrict US persons' investment in, and US defence procurement from, listed entities. They are not a full asset-blocking sanction, but they are a material consideration for counterparties with US exposure, and we state them plainly.
